It always seems easier to get a job when you know someone affiliated with the position. LinkedIn‘s job search will help you find that connection to the job you want. It’s a great way to look for jobs within your immediate and extended network, a network you may not have otherwise known existed. With LinkedIn, as you add connections to your network (colleagues, classmates, acquaintances) you also build your second and third degree network of friends-of-friends. When they’re hiring, they post a job on LinkedIn and now you have a (don’t mind the pun) “link” to the position.

To view available jobs in your network and beyond, sign in to your account (or read my post on getting LinkedIn)
and click on the Jobs & Hiring tab. Select your search criteria and the results displayed with sort open positions by the number of degrees away from you. You’ll be able to see all positions within your network and on the LinkedIn community. Their search is powered by simply|hired, so you’ll also gain one-click access to jobs posted on the web as well.
